Hello, my name is Janet. This blog is dedicated to correspondence from past centuries, penned by figures (prominent or not so prominent) from the world of literature, art and music. I will be posting letters here that are interesting, funny, emotional, or simply worth sharing, offering vivid insights into the artists’ lives and characters, and the times they lived in. Along with each letter, I will also include background information for context. The idea for this website originated from my blog Stars and Letters (dedicated to Classic Hollywood correspondence) which was, in turn, inspired by Letters of Note. Most letters featured on this site are in the public domain, written in that elegant, classical prose typical of the time.
