Hello, my name is Janet. This blog is dedicated to correspondence from past centuries, written by figures from the world of literature, art and music. Here, I share letters that are interesting, funny, moving, and more— offering vivid glimpses into the lives and characters of the correspondents. Through these letters, even the most iconic figures are humanised. They remind us that, although times have changed, human emotions, dreams and struggles remain much the same.

For context, each letter on this site comes with background information. These backstories can be just as compelling as the letters themselves — and sometimes even more so.
